Volunteers

Our volunteers program is integral to how we provide quality health care.

Our volunteers make an exceptional contribution to our clients and the wider community in providing their time and skills.

We want our volunteers to feel informed, to be part of our organisation and be proud of their contributions. We hope that all our volunteers feel like they belong to the team, as they are a valued support in sustaining many new and exciting activities, enriching the lives of people within the East Gippsland region.

Volunteers contribute their time in the following program areas:

  • Allied Health
  • Residential Aged Care
  • Planned Activity Groups (day centres in Bairnsdale, Lindenow, Paynesville, Metung, Bruthen and Buchan)
  • Palliative Care
  • Acute Health (limited)
  • Transport Drivers
  • Community Visiting

Auxiliaries

We are also very fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers in the following auxiliaries who provide their time and donate proceeds from their fundraising activities towards medical equipment.

Bower Birds  – A dedicated team of volunteers whose fundraising efforts assist in the purchase of hospital equipment for patient care and comfort.

Flower Auxiliary – Friendly and caring volunteers attend the hospital daily to arrange and care for patients’ flower arrangements.

Kiosk Auxiliary – The Kiosk Auxiliary volunteers provide services in our hospital kiosk and fundraise to support BRHS in the purchase of new equipment and completion of capital works. Volunteers are rostered to attend the hospital kiosk seven days a week.

There are many volunteers and community groups who support the health service with their time and donations and we are very grateful for their contributions.
