This past financial year, BRHS staff contributed almost $8,000 to six local, national and international charities through a salary contribution program that is offered to everyone that works at BRHS.

This brings to more than $60,000 the amount that BRHS staff have donated to the six charities since the program was introduced several years ago.

The charities are Melon’s Cottage, Médecins Sans Frontiéres, Victorian Animal Aid Trust, REACH Foundation, Asthma Foundation and Empower International.

Local charity Melon’s Cottage is one of the most popular options for BRHS to make their tax deductible contribution to.

The lovely little cottage in Lakes Entrance is made available to families who have children in treatment for cancer or leukaemia, or are bereaved.

The cottage stands in memory of Eli Charlie Simpson, fondly known as Melon, who lost his battle with cancer at 13 months old.

Melon’s Cottage allows for Challenge families to take a well-earned break and provides an opportunity to spend some quality time together.

BRHS is proud to support Melon’s Cottage, and the other charities that do such important work in our communities and across the globe.

(Anyone at BRHS that wants more information about the tax deductible donation program to their should contact Payroll.)
