BRHS: Terrific Hospital. Terrible Haberdashery.

Many of you may have already heard the news that from Sunday 2 August at 11:59pm, a face covering will be mandatory whenever you leave home – and wherever you live.

Here’s the statement from Premier Daniel Andrews. We’ll have more information for you over the coming days.

However, for the moment, please be advised that BRHS is not making or selling a large quantity of masks for the community.

As reported we are making a small quantity of masks which will be available for essential visitors to the hospital only.

We’ve received a lot of calls today from folks wanting to buy masks, so please share with your friends and neighbours that BRHS is not making and selling masks.

We’d love to be able to help, but just don’t have the staff or volunteer capacity to turn to the sizeable task of mask production.

There are, however, a number of people and businesses making masks. Google or Facebook marketplace should be able to point you in the right direction.

There’s more information about face masks, including how to make your own, here: www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-masks-and-coverings-covid-19

If you are handy with a sewing machine and would like to volunteer your time and talents to making masks for our visitors, patients and staff, we’d love to hear from you.

Reach out to Volunteer Coordinator Mel Fenby at 5150 3346, or email melanie.fenby@brhs.com.au.

Many thanks everyone. Stay safe.
