Got Symptoms? No Symptoms? Here’s What You Need to Know About COVID Testing in East Gippsland

Here’s a reminder to BRHS staff and the community about where and when people should be tested for COVID-19.

For People With Symptoms (Symptomatic Testing)

Anyone with mild or moderate flu-like symptoms should be tested at the Bairnsdale Respiratory Clinic on Forge Creek Rd.

If you have mild or moderate symptoms call 4116 2014 or use this link to make an appointment to be tested there.

The clinic is only open during the week.

So, if it is the weekend and you are urgently unwell and cannot wait until Monday to be tested, you can be tested at BRHS.

Drive to our main carpark at the front of the hospital, and follow carefully the signposted instructions.

(As always, in an emergency, dial 000.)

For People Without Symptoms (Asymptomatic Testing)

Testing is not currently available for people without symptoms, with only two exceptions.

Those exceptions are:

  1. People with a letter or message from the Victorian Dept. Health and Human Services requiring them to be tested as part of contacting tracing.
  2. People with a letter or message from a surgeon requiring them to be tested ahead of a surgery appointment.

If this applies to you, you can be tested at BRHS at any time.

Bring your letter or message with you, drive to our main car park at the front of the hospital, and follow carefully the signposted instructions.

Employers, do not demand that your employees get tested if they do not have any symptoms. They will not be able to be tested, and this only places unfair pressure on the healthcare workers at testing facilities and your employees.
