COVID Vaccination Centre to Open Monday and Tuesday Evenings

The COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Bairnsdale City Oval will now be open until 8pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) announced the extended hours, in an effort to make vaccination more accessible for people that can’t find time during business hours.

The opening days and times for the next two weeks are:

  • Monday 23 August 9am – 8pm
  • Tuesday 24 August 9am – 8pm
  • Wednesday 25 August 9am – 3pm
  • Monday 30 August       9am – 8pm
  • Tuesday 31 August       9am – 8pm
  • Wednesday 1 September 9am – 3pm

Here’s the list of who is eligible for a COVID vaccine.

BRHS CEO Robyn Hayles this week urged all eligible locals to do their part to help get Australia out of COVID restrictions by getting vaccinated.

“All the staff at BRHS and healthcare workers across East Gippsland have been working flat out over the past year to keep everyone healthy and prevent COVID from devastating this community,” Hayles said. “Now we need you to pitch in and do your part – as soon as you are eligible, please, get your COVID vaccination.”

Frontline health care workers and aged care workers are able to walk-in for their Pfizer vaccination.

All other people that qualify for a Pfizer vaccine must make an appointment by using the online booking system or by calling 1800 675 398.

All people eligible for AstraZeneca (ages 18 – 39 and over 60) can walk-in, but may have to wait longer than those that have appointments.

More than 2,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given at the Bairnsdale City Oval clinic since it opened in June.

“It is such a small inconvenience but it is an act of great generosity and community spirit,” Hayles said. “By getting vaccinated you are doing something really important to help protect this community.”

“We have two options if we want to keep this community safe from this deadly disease. One is a continuing cycle of lockdowns and restrictions. The other is for the vast majority of the population to get vaccinated. If you are eligible, please go and get it done.”
