Let’s be honest. 2020 hasn’t been exactly “smooth sailing” so far.
It has certainly been a tough time for staff at BRHS, who are coping amazingly well with the stresses and demands of the coronavirus pandemic.
So it was lovely to receive a very thoughtful little care package in the mail recently from the grade 1 and 2 students of Lakes Entrance Primary School.
Their letters of thanks and encouragement for our nurses and healthcare workers certainly put smiles on faces here at BRHS.
“You’re the light that fights the darkness!” wrote one student. “We thank you for sticking with us through the hard times. If you keep doing what you’re doing, we can get through this.”
Inspirational. Out of the mouths of babes.
Teacher Catherine Brooks said she got the idea to do something from our nurses after reading about International Nurses Day last month.
“During COVID-19, there’s been lots of uncertainty, change and concern within the community,” Catherine said. “My hope was that by encouraging the students to write the letters to the nurses and other hospital staff, we could turn those emotions into something more positive and meaningful.”
You certainly did.
Many thanks to Catherine and her students, and all the community members that have demonstrated random acts of thanks for our staff during this challenging time.
