BRHS staff, volunteers and their families and friends are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the BRHS float at the Bairnsdale Christmas Parade this Saturday.

The parade starts at 11 a.m.

If you’d like to take part, please meet on Nicholson St. beside the Bairnsdale Primary School (754) oval at 10 a.m.

The theme of our float this year is an “Active, Sporty and Sun Smart Christmas.”

So, wear something sporty or active! Cricket hat, tennis gear, sweat bands, board shorts. Ride a bike, a skateboard or rollerblades, bring a frisbee – anything fun and colourful to highlight the active and outdoorsy theme!

In this day and age when young people are becoming more sedentary and childhood obesity is rising because of inactivity, we feel it’s important to celebrate that sporty, active tradition of people in Australian country towns, and the joys of getting outside and enjoying the summer.

So, wear something sporty or active! Cricket hat, tennis gear, sweat bands, board shorts. Ride a bike, a skateboard or rollerblades, bring a frisbee – anything fun and colourful to highlight the active and outdoorsy theme!

And, it’s really important to make sure you wear a good sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses!

John Aitken has kindly donated his truck again this year, so you’ll be able to ride on the back if you like, and wave to the adoring crowd.

We’re partnering with Bairnsdale West Primary School – they’ll be next to us in the parade.

And if you feel like helping out with decorating the truck, come a little earlier! All hands and helpers will be much appreciated!

We hope to see you there!
