You Still Must Wear a Mask at the Hospital

On 6 December the State of Victoria announced a further easing of COVID restrictions, including when you have to wear a face mask.

However, BRHS reminds the community that anyone visiting the health service for any reason must still wear a mask.

Staff in public areas and patient-facing roles must continue to wear their masks, too.

Staff in areas that do not come in contact with the general public will be able to remove their masks, as long as they can physical distance from others.

As of Monday morning, Victoria moves to COVIDSafe Summer restrictions.

Here’s some of the key changes:

  • You must carry a face mask with you when you leave home.
  • Wearing a face mask is only mandatory on public transport, while in taxis or ride share vehicles, or when going to large retail venues, including shopping centres, supermarkets and department stores.
  • Wearing a face mask is strongly recommended indoors and outdoors when you can’t keep 1.5 metres distance from other people.
