Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) provides a broad range of hospital, community, aged care and allied health services for people right across East Gippsland and is the region’s largest employer.
Whether you are a patient, visiting a loved one, attending an appointment, or thinking about joining our team, we want you to feel welcome, informed and supported.

About us
BRHS offers a wide range of services to cater for a growing population of around 50,000.
We have 75 acute beds, 91 aged care beds and the only Emergency Department between Sale and Bega in NSW, catering for a vast area of eastern Victoria.
We operate three campuses:
Our Day Street campus is BRHS’s main hospital site, providing emergency, acute, subacute, surgical, maternity and palliative care. It is also home to specialist services including oncology, dialysis, allied health, consulting clinics, home-based nursing and Maddocks Gardens Aged Care Facility.
Our Ross Street campus provides a range of community-based health and wellbeing services, including diabetes education, women’s and adolescent health, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, continence support, breast care nursing, smoking cessation support, Planned Activity Group and dental services.
Our CBD campus, located at 183 Main Street, provides a range of Medical Imaging and Maternity Services. These include X-rays, body composition analysis, bone mineral density scans and ultrasound, as well as the Bairnsdale Maternity Clinic, where GPOs and midwives work together to support women and families throughout pregnancy and birth.
Information for visitors
We welcome visitors to our Day Street campus between 9am and 7pm.
To help patients rest and recover, there may be times between 9am – 7pm when visiting is limited. We kindly ask that all visitors and family observe any rest time signage that may be on display.
If you have questions about visiting a particular patient or ward, please speak with staff at the nurses’ station.
Main Reception
Our main reception at 122 Day Street is attended seven days a week from 7.30am to 8.00pm.

Ross Street and CBD campuses are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am-5pm, excluding public holidays.

Opening hours for specific services are listed below:
- Allied Health: 8.15am to 4.30pm
- Medical Imaging (X-Ray): 8am to 6pm
- Consulting Rooms: 8.30am to 5pm
- Dental: 8.15am to 4.30pm
- Community Health (Ross Street): 8am to 4.30pm
- Pathology: 8am to 4pm
Free visitor and patient parking is available at our Day Street campus in:
- Day Street
- off Victoria Street
- off McKean Street.
You can find limited reserve parking in the McKean Street car park for oncology, dialysis, outpatients and patients attending visiting consultants. Please follow the signs when parking.
Parking is not permitted directly outside the main entrance. Short-stay drop-off bats are available for people who need to be dropped off or collected via the McKean Street car park.
Accessible parking spaces are available in designated areas close to building entrances.
BRHS is a smoke-free health service. Smoking and vaping are not permitted in our buildings or on our grounds,

If you are feeling unwell, please consider rescheduling your visit where possible to help protect patients, visitors and staff.
A range of food and refreshment options is available for patients, visitors and staff.
Best Care Café and Cafeteria
Located within the hospital, the Best Care Café and Cafeteria provides a comfortable space to relax, enjoy a meal, or catch up over coffee. The adjoining indoor and outdoor dining area is available for staff, patients and visitors.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria serves morning tea and lunch, with a daily changing menu and selection of freshly prepared food available, including hot meals and light meal options.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2.00pm
Best Care Café
The café offers barista-made coffee, hot and cold drinks, toasted sandwiches, snacks and light refreshments from local suppliers
Opening hours: 7.00am to 4.00pm, seven days a week
Fresh flowers are also available for purchase from the Best Care Café.
Kiosk
The hospital kiosk offers a range of sandwiches, snacks, cold drinks and small gift items.
Opening hours: 12.00pm to 3.00pm, seven days a week
24-Hour Refreshments
A vending machine offering snacks and drinks is available in the Emergency Department and a hot drinks machine is located at the hospital’s main entrance.
The Warrawee Room, located on our Day Street campus, is a welcoming space at BRHS for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and visitors. It provides a culturally safe place to meet, take some quiet time and connect with family. Follow the footprints from the main entrance.
