INFORMATION FOR VISITORS
Welcome to BRHS
Bairnsdale Regional Health Service is East Gippsland’s major centre for healthcare and is the region’s largest employer.
It offers a wide range of health, surgical and allied health services to cater for a growing population of around 50,000.
It has 75 acute beds, 91 aged care beds and the only emergency department between Sale and Bega in NSW, catering for a vast area of eastern Victoria.

Visiting Hours
Visiting hours are between 9am and 7pm.
We kindly ask that all visitors and family observe any rest time signage that may be on display.
We encourage you to enquire at the nurse’s station at any time if you need information regarding visiting.

Main Reception
The main hospital reception is attended seven days a week between 7.30am and 8.00pm.

Operating Hours
Monday to Friday (except public holidays)
- Allied Health – 8.15am to 4.30pm
- Medical Imaging (X-Ray) – 8.00am to 6.00pm
- Consulting Rooms – 8.30am to 5.00pm
- Dental – 8.15am to 4.30pm
- Community Health (Ross Street) – 8.00am to 4.30pm
- Pathology – 8.00am to 4.00pm
Patient/Visitor Car Parking
Car parking is located close to the hospital in:
- Day Street
- off Victoria Street, and
- off McKean Street.
Limited parking is designated for outpatients and the patients of visiting consultants in the McKean Street car park. Please observe the signs.
Parking is NOT PERMITTED outside the main hospital entrance. However, short stay drop-off bays are available and are restricted to less than five minutes.
Safety
Smoking is strictly prohibited on all BRHS buildings and grounds. Please observe all no smoking, safety and mobile phone signage.
Food and Refreshments
Bairnsdale Regional Health Service offers a range of food and refreshment options for patients, visitors and staff.
Best Care Café and Cafeteria
Located within the hospital, the Best Care Café and Cafeteria provides a comfortable space to relax, enjoy a meal, or catch up over coffee. The adjoining dining area is available for staff, patients and visitors.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria serves morning tea and lunch, with a selection of freshly prepared food available, including hot meals and light meal options.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2.00pm
Best Care Café
The café offers barista-made coffee, hot and cold drinks, snacks and light refreshments.
Opening hours: 7.00am to 4.00pm, seven days a week
Fresh flowers are also available for purchase from the Best Care Café.
Kiosk
The hospital kiosk offers a range of sandwiches, snacks, cold drinks and small gift items.
Opening hours: 12.00pm to 3.00pm, seven days a week
24-Hour Refreshments
For refreshments outside of operating hours:
A vending machine offering snacks and drinks is available in the Emergency Department and a hot drinks machine is located at the hospital’s main entrance.
