Maddocks Gardens Hits 100 Percent COVID Vaccination Target

100 percent of staff working at BRHS’ aged care facility, Maddocks Gardens, have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine.

The achievement comes ahead of an Australian Government mandate that everyone working in an aged care facility be vaccinated against COVID-19.

BRHS’ Aged Care Manager, Paul Rosenquist, said this week he was extremely proud of his staff for taking the necessary steps to protect residents and the community.

“COVID has been really tough for people working in aged care,” Paul said. “Older Australians are at much greater risk should COVID enter an aged care facility, and so we have been on high alert for many months now.”

“From day one the staff at Maddocks Gardens have done all that has been asked of them, and that includes getting vaccinated. I’m very proud of them, and of the commitment they continue to show to the residents.”

The 100 percent vaccination status includes not only nursing and activities staff but also admin, catering and cleaning staff.

“Getting the jab is a way of saying ‘I care about my community and I want to do what I can to protect it’,” Paul said. “I hope all East Gippslanders can show the same level of community spirit, and get their vaccination.”

All Australians 12 and over can now get their COVID vaccination.
