Sensory Wizard a Moving World of Wonder at Maddocks Gardens

Maddocks Gardens has installed an award-winning piece of cutting-edge audio visual equipment that provides stimulation and engagement for people living with dementia.

The Sensory Wizard OMI Projector displays a variety of images on any flat surface that users can interact with.

Just like real objects in nature – such as leaves or ponds of water – when the user swipes or splashes their hand on the surface, the image responds.

In addition to the ultra-realistic nature scenes, the Sensory Wizard also includes interactive game settings, such as cognitive stimulation quizzes, and ball games.

Maddocks Gardens Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator Lisa Milligan said the Sensory Wizard has been hugely popular with residents since it was installed last month.

“The enjoyment and surprise we see on the residents’ faces as they engage with the moving images is just wonderful,” Lisa said. “It’s been a real hit.”
